Micro_Tone

Co-Founder Jim Sesters created a small pc board that fits under the cover plate of most guitars, particularly his own Buzz Feiten Telecaster ® and BJ’s Gibson ® LP’s.

Powered by a small rechargeable cell phone battery, the Micro-Tone offers over 15 hours of performance time. The same great touch sensitive tone and overdrive can be had on any stage with proper adjustment of the Micro-Tone™ before performing.

Micro_Tone

SestroniX Co-Founder and professional Blues musician, BJ Estares (“Beej”), has always disliked going to jam sessions at bars and clubs because he’d get stuck using whatever amps and effects are in the backline and can rarely get a decent tone on the jam stage. Beej wanted high-quality custom sound built into his guitar and activated with a push-pull or a micro toggle for “true bypass” to provide consistent effected tone direct into any clean amp.

The Micro_Tone overdrive units are the ultimate in customizing and carrying your sound with you where ever you go with your guitar! Imagine having set up your Micro_Tone for a sound you love and literally having it available at the flip of a switch. The Micro_Tone is the ultimate in portability. Additionally, the Micro_Tone works directly with pedal boards or amplifiers.

The Micro_Tone started its life as a pedal effect (Stomp_Tone) but the staff at SestroniX gave ourselves a real challenge: Could we take our great sounding overdrive/distortion effects and design them to be installed in a guitar control cavity or custom routed cavity? After months of design, simulation and prototyping, we came up with something really unique.

On-board effects have been mounted in guitars before but usually came up lacking. The development of the small lithium polymer batteries and power/battery management Integrated Circuits facilitated the development of the SestroniX Micro_Tones. The audio effect circuitry is fully analog with DC and Recharging circuitry controlled by an on-board 8-bit microprocessor.

We believe the Micro_Tone is the crown jewel in the SestroniX line-up!

Support Circuits

The Micro_Tone™

Uses a 3.7 volt rechargeable battery as its power source. We feel that the rechargeable battery is necessary because removing the access cover to replace a battery would place unreasonable wear on the guitar wiring and internal components. The microprocessor in the Micro_Tone™ unit again does "house-keeping" but we have added additional functions that support the Micro Tone operation.

The Micro_Tone™

Is installed in the guitar. During installation, the two wires are routed to an ON-OFF switch of your choice: Toggle, Push Pull or perhaps a Slide switch. This switch routes the battery voltage back the Micro_Tone™ when the switch is ON. When the switch is in the OFF position, the Micro_Tone™ has no voltage applied and the unit is in "true bypass" mode (your guitar always works). When the switch is in the ON condition, the effect is enabled.

The Micro_Tone™

has a status green/red LED that is visible at the access cover panel that indicates the battery voltage level. Unfortunately, it is awkward to view the LED unless you hold the guitar away from your body! No worries. The microprocessor in the Micro_Tone™ will place the effect in the BYPASS mode if the battery voltage becomes too low. The Micro Tone will provide over 15 hours of playing time on a single charge. It is in the musician’s best interest to check the battery status LED before each use. A red flashing LED is the indication that unit needs recharging.
